First things first: Santorini isn’t really known for its beaches, but rather for its stunning Caldera views. So, don’t expect to be completely wowed by the beaches here. However, there are still some great spots worth visiting. Here are our top beach recommendations!
Red Beach
The views from Red Beach were absolutely stunning. It’s a small beach surrounded by striking red-hued cliffs, making it a unique and picturesque spot. However, it gets crowded very quickly, so we recommend arriving early. While it’s perfect for taking photos, we found it best just to enjoy the views and snap some pictures rather than spending too much time there.
Perissa & Perivolos Beach
These are definitely the best beaches for us. Perissa and Perivolos are two awesome black-sand beaches with the imposing Mesa Vouno, the tallest mountain in Santorini, as a stunning background. We spent about two days at Perissa, relaxing at a beach bar called Jasper’s (here’s the location). The owner, an Albanian, shared his inspiring story with us about his beginnings in Greece and how he became a business owner. It was amazing to hear! Jasper’s offers great service, an amazing location for photos with Mesa Vouno in the background, and delicious food from their restaurant. Highly recommended!
Kamari Beach
Kamari Beach is located next to Perivolos and Perissa and is also a nice spot to visit. Compared to Perissa, Kamari is pricier—we paid 20 euros for sunbeds and an umbrella in Perissa, while in Kamari it was 50 euros. The beach bars in Kamari are fancier, and there are more shops to explore.
